Sunday of week seven offered lots of exciting games. Every week, the first game of the week is played on Thursday. We have had some really good Thursday night games this season so far. Week seven offered the worst Thursday Night game you could ask for. The Denver Broncos traveled to Arizona to face the Arizona Cardinals. I didn't know it was going to be a blowout, but I wasn't eager to watch that game anyway.
The Cardinals are rebuilding... Everybody knows that!
Both teams entered week seven at least two games under .500, and at best, as the third seed in their divisions. We all know neither the Broncos or the Cardinals are going anywhere this season. Especially the Cardinals! How bad are the Arizona Cardinals? You all saw the game, right? They have talent, but it's not enough. I'm not so sure about their coaching either. Bruce Arians was a great coach for the Cardinals. He took them to as far as the NFC Championship game in 2015, where they got blown out by the Carolina Panthers.
Now the Cardinals have a new head coach, new quarterback, and a new direction. However, two key players from the 2015 season are still on their roster. That includes Patrick Peterson and the legend Larry Fitzgerald. Since being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals as the third overall pick in 2004, Fitzgerald has been a loyal soldier. He has been determined to win a championship for the Cardinals since, he went to the Super Bowl with Kurt Warner as his quarterback in 2008. Sadly his determination and excellent play on the field has never been enough for his team to reach the ultimate destination.
2018 more than likely is going to be Fitzgerald's final year in the NFL. Arizona Cardinals are completing wasting his final year away! Larry Fitzgerald doesn't want to but he should consider going someplace else. The only way he could leave is via trade. I respect that Larry isn't a ring chaser, but the team for whom he is playing at the moment is working on a rebuild. So what's the point of sticking with the Cardinals?
The other star who plays the other side of the ball, Patrick Peterson, wants to leave Arizona and go play for a contender. Patrick Peterson in the past has shown his love to play in the desert, but seeing how the Cardinals have fallen since the 2015-16 NFC Championship game, he has decided to change his plans. Peterson, unlike Fitzgerald, is still young! He can provide several contenders a boost that they need at the defensive side of the ball to win the Super Bowl.
If I'm Arizona, I don't want to trade Patrick Peterson. However, if someone is offering me a first-round pick and a fourth-round pick, I might just do that trade. New England Patriots don't have the cap space, but they have the draft capital to offer the Cardinals to acquire Patrick Peterson. Patriots and Peterson will be a perfect pairing, as Peterson will significantly increase Patriots chances of winning the Super Bowl, and Peterson himself will finally get to play for a consistent Super Bowl contender.
As for Larry, the only contender I see trading for him are the New Orleans Saints. The Saints have a great quarterback, two solid running backs, and one superstar at wide receiver. However, they are missing a decent number two receiver for their offense. Larry Fitzgerald will fill in the number two receiver slot for the Saints, and he will also bring in the leadership element to the Saints' offense that they could use in the playoffs. Players in New Orleans will play with extra motivation once Larry Legend gets there.
Other players who should consider moving are; Le'Veon Bell, Andrew Luck, and Tyler Eifert.
Let me start with Eifert. He doesn't need to change teams. He should retire! Tyler Eifert has shown flashes of being a great tight-end and being a force in this league. The problem is, he just can't stay healthy and he misses a bunch of games. Eifert has never played a full season. He is been in the league for six years and has played ten plus games in only two of six seasons. Guess what? He is hurt again and he won't be ready to play until March. Football season ends in February so he won't get to play until next September. Eifert, what's the point man? You just can't play a full season of football. Start exploring a different profession for your own sake.
Andrew Luck is an amazing player who is loved by everyone but the Indianapolis Colts. For much of Peyton Manning's time in Indianapolis, the Colts surrounded him with a pretty mediocre defense. At least Manning had a great receiving core to work with, a decent O-line, and a pretty average running game. Luck has none of that! He has had a good receiving core for only two seasons from 2013-2014. The Colts are losing despite Luck putting extraordinary numbers. This franchise didn't do enough for Manning, and now they are doing a disservice to Luck by providing him zero help on either side of the ball. Andrew Luck should ask for a trade. Maybe he should go to the Denver Broncos just like Peyton did.
No one knows why Le'Veon Bell would want to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers for the remainder of the season. The Steelers made it clear to Bell that they don't need him, after they offered him an unreasonable contract extension in the off-season. His coach doesn't like to talk about him and his contract situation. All of the offensive linemen, who were supposed to be blocking for Bell this season, have called him out. The Steelers are actually doing pretty decent without him. James O'Conner, who replaced Le'Veon Bell as the starter, has played extremely well behind the Steelers' O-line. I don't understand why the Steelers are holding on to Bell either. If I'm the Steelers, I'm trading him to the Jets, Colts, or the Packers for a first-round pick. If Le'Veon Bell comes back, he's going to be more of a distraction than a productive player for the Steelers.
What to make of Dallas Cowboys trading for Amari Cooper?
The Cowboys needed a wide receiver to help out Dak Prescott in the passing game and they were able to find a good productive wide-out for him from Oakland. However, to give up a first-round pick for a wide receiver who isn't even top ten at his position is way too much. The New England Patriots got Josh Gordon, who is better than Cooper talent wise, for a fifth-round pick. That goes to show you how stupid the Cowboys were for trading a first-round pick for a receiver. Yes, they were desperate to get one, but a team should know the value of certain players at certain positions. A third-round pick or maybe a second-round pick would have been more reasonable for the Cowboys to acquire Cooper. The Oakland Raiders won this trade by a mile!
