How the Lions & the Bengals were built in the last ten years?   If you have a franchise quarterback, then your team is set for regular season success and to win multiple playoff games for five to ten years. Both the Detriot Lions and Cincinnati Bengals have franchise quarterbacks. The Lions have Mattew Stafford, who they drafted number one overall in the 2009 draft. The Bengals have Andy Dalton, who they drafted in the second round of the loaded 2011 draft. Besides having quarterbacks, both teams have and had talent around their signal callers in the last six to seven years. Mattew Stafford had an all-time talented receiver in Calvin Johnson to throw the ball too, while Andy Dalton has AJ Green to throw passes to since the day he became the team's starting quarterback. NFL Draft provides us surprises every year.   Every year, about six to seven draft selections send waves to everybody in the league. Such selections either send good waves or bad waves. It isn't always the first six to seven picks in the draft that are eye-popping. Sometimes it is the first overall pick which shooks up the draft, sometimes it is the late pick in the first-round which catches everyone's eyes, and other times it is the pick in the middle rounds which send waves down the road. Last year, the selection of Kareem Hunt in the third-round was noticed as a decent pick, but the way he performed during the first half of the season had everyone admit that the Kansas City Chiefs had found their diamond in the third-round. Any team can find its superstar anywhere in the draft. On the other hand, teams make bad picks in the top ten selection of the first-round.  Every season, fans of New York Jets are always excited. Week one of the season is the time when Jets' fans talk the most trash. They don't talk trash without reasoning. Almost every year, Jets' team is loaded with good young players with lots of energy. Those players give the fans hope for taking their team deep into the playoffs. Then after four weeks into the season, it seems like that maybe the fans were right as their Jets are either 3-1 or 2-2 after highly contested games. After that, the Jets go on a seven-game stretch in which they lose five or six games. With such a stretch, they get to have a losing record, pretty much lose any hopes of making it to the playoffs, and then they start hating on the Patriots and their success. 2017 season was a great lesson.   Last year was a major disappointment for the New York Football Giants. Nobody saw it coming. Many of us predicted them to make another appearance in the playoffs. Before the start of the season, I actually thought we were going to have Patriots vs Giants Super Bowl III. Then the Giants started the season 0-5. In the first three games of the season, they had a lead or were down by only a score with three to four minutes left in the game. They just couldn't finish any of those games. After that, Giants started to lose player after player due to injuries. All of their starting receivers were hurt, with Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall out for the whole year. Before Beckham got hurt, he was once again causing trouble on the sidelines and on the field. Recent Patriots' history of Free Agency.   New England Patriots are not about making a splash in free agency. They are certainly not about wowing us fans in free agency. Bill Belichick other than last year, usually makes moves for players on the second day of free agency. That's when the market settles down, and that's when teams get players at the right price. As in, a team doesn't have to overpay for players to prevent them from signing with some other team. Patriots have been very consistent in free agency for the past ten to fifteen years. They have signed or traded for other teams' busts or mediocre players and turned them into solid players for themselves. In free agency, Patriots have added players like Rodney Harrison, Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Chris Hogan, Danny Woodhead, Dion Lewis, LeGarrette Blount, Darrelle Revis, Brandon Browner, and so many more. Washington Redskins you are going to remain inconsistent for a while!   Since the millennium, Washington Redskins have been one of the worst franchises in the league. In the last twenty years, Redskins have had only five seasons with a record of over .500. They have had only three seasons with double-digit wins since 1998. Their problem isn't similar to the Cleveland Browns, that they can't find talent. Redskins know how to find talent, it's just that they can't sustain and build around it. One area where they have struggled the most is the quarterback position. It seemed like they fixed their issue of finding the right quarterback with the 2012 draft. Redskins with the second overall pick drafted Robert Griffin III after they traded a king's ransom of several draft picks to get the second overall pick.
